Ringworm in Humans – transmission
Ringworm is known to be a highly contagious skin condition. Since ringworm is a fungal infection, it is mainly transmitted via touching and sharing the belongings such as towels, clothes or comb of the infected person.

Animals mainly pets like cats and dogs carry the infection on their skin, which they are most likely to transfer on children. Animals can be treated if they are suspected to carry this infection.

Farm animals are also very important carriers of this fungal infection and touching the farm gates can make us vulnerable to the ailment. Common and casual contact with the contaminated objects and soil is one of the prominent causes of developing the infection.

Symptoms of Ringworm
The ringworm rash begins to appear on the skin which may or may not itch. The skin appears to make the protrusion evident which forms a ring or circle after which the infection is named. The skin develops into a circular, red inflamed patch. The outer edge appears to be more scaly and swollen than the paler center. Sometimes only a single patch of infection occurs while many a times patches spread over the entire body mainly after handling the infected animal. The intensity of the rash depends on the type of infection acquired, which can be mildly irritating or sometimes be very itchy and inflamed. Sometimes, the rash might appear as other skin rashes like psoriasis. natural homemade remedies

Effective Ringworm Treatment

Instant treatment must be adopted in order to prevent the infection from spreading and transmitting to others. A good and reputed anti fungal cream can be used for instant relief from any nearby pharmacy. There are various types and brands for such purpose sas Miconazole,Ketoconazole,Econazole,Clotrimazole and Terbinafine which are very effective at curing ringworm in humans.

If the skin is more inflamed than usual, the doctor might couple the anti fungal cream with a mild steroid which normally is taken for no more than 7 days. However, you may need to continue with anti fungal cream alone until the problem subsides. The steroid is majorly recommended to reduce inflammation and ease itch and redness quickly. It does not have any impact on the cure of fungal infection so the cream must be used along for such purpose.

Sometimes an anti fungal medicine is taken by mouth and is prescribed by the doctor if the infection is or likely to get severe. It is imperative to note that not all medication is suitable for everyone. Women who are breast feeding or pregnant, people who are on medication for other ailments, or children aged less than 12 may not be allowed to use certain types of ringworm medication.

It is highly advised not to scratch the rash or any other part of the body after touching the infected area. Moreover using home remedies for ringworm is a very lucrative way to combat this infection. So stay safe and healthy because life is too precious to worry about petty things!
